Creative use of the browser

Our internet browser is our gateway to the internet. It shows us search results and websites. It is therefore all the more important that we know this tool well and know how to use it.  

Preparation

All you need to prepare is a PC and an internet connection. Alternatively, this exercise can also take place on a tablet or smartphone. 

The exercise focuses on the Mozilla Firefox browser. However, the techniques described here can be found in slightly modified versions in other browsers such as Google Chrome. 

Method / Process description

Participants learn how to use the browser - especially how to use multiple browser windows and browser tabs. 

In detail: 

Explanation of the difference between a new browser window and a new tab.

  • Task:
    • Open search results in new windows and new tabs. 
    • Self-test: How many tabs and windows can I personally manage before it becomes confusing? 
  • Getting to know how to work with tabs:  
    • Open new tabs
    • Move tabs (also into several browser windows)
    • Close tabs 
  • Other functions:
    • Restoring the previous session
    • Use of the chronicle
