Cookies
In this lesson, participants learn how to handle cookies and how to use the incognito window of an internet browser.
Preparation
All that is needed for preparation is a PC and an internet connection. In addition, an internet browser with an incognito window is required (Chrome, Firefox, Safari).
Method / Process description
Phase 1. group discussion, introduction to the topic
After a theoretical introduction to the topic of cookies, the following topics are discussed and debated in the group:
- What are cookies?
- Why are there cookie notices on websites?
- Why is it necessary to accept individual cookies?
- Are cookie notices read before they are accepted? Should they be read?
- What are the risks of cookies?
Phase 2. exploration
The worksheet is used to evaluate the use of cookies in relation to advertising and other issues that may put our privacy at risk.
Phase 3 Identification (optional)
The worksheet can be used to find out which cookies are stored with which information in the internet browser. This can be worked out by the participants or alternatively demonstrated by the teacher.
