Project: We are so remote!

This exercise is designed to introduce participants to the world of content creation/creativity and to try out these tools. In the exercise phase, participants will play a project group working from home, i.e. in remote mode, and complete tasks.

Preparation

All you need to prepare is a PC, smartphone and an Internet connection to look up information from the Internet.

Presentation on Content Creation/Creativity. The presentation should include one content creation/creativity tool each of your choice for the following areas:

  • Text Creation
  • Image and graphics
  • Screenshot and screen recording
  • Video
  • Presentation
  • Digital Tools for Conferences
  • Content Management

The exercise sheets serve as additional support and stimulation.

Method / Process description

Participants are given the task of familiarizing themselves with the topic of content creation/creativity. This requires a detailed introduction to the world of content creation/creativity tools. For this task, a list of various tools is available in the wiki at wiki.cumila.eu.

After the various tools have been discussed, the participants are asked to create a fake e-mail address so that they can later register with the various tools.

Then the teacher divides the participants into groups and distributes the work assignments.

The participants are given the following assignment:

  • They are to imagine that they are a project team of a large umbrella organization for sports clubs. They are not volunteers. Their task is to plan and carry out an event to make children and their parents aware of how important sport is for their health, mental well-being, etc. They work from home and communicate with each other.
  • They work from home and communicate via a tool previously introduced in class.
  • They hold online meetings at regular intervals, either together or with just one person in the group, to discuss and work out ideas.
  • They present their ideas during the meetings via their screen and also send their files via this tool.
  • Video recordings of these meetings are made and stored.
  • Photos of these meetings are taken and edited.
  • One photo from a meeting is to be selected and goes on the info brochure to introduce the project team. What kind of info brochure it is, is up to the team (e.g.: Info about the association, info about the project, invitation for the event, etc.).
  • All documents are filed in such a way that they are accessible to everyone.
  • Together you will create a short motivational video for the children and their parents using the smartphone, which will be edited a bit afterwards.
  • You are also to use a texting tool.
  • Finally, document the project in the form of a slide presentation.

After that, the participants should present their presentation and the video. Afterwards, the participants should compare and discuss their results with others. Especially how they felt while working with the tools.

The participants should first draw their own conclusions based on their observations from the discussion with the others.

TIP:

  • It would be good if at least 3 people work together in a group.
  • For this exercise it would be advisable to provide the participants with one to three rooms so that they can split up and the exercise can be realized more authentically.
  • The implementation of the project, the examination of the content creation/creativity tools and the simulation of a project team, which has to master given tasks, can on the one hand be implemented as a project, which is realized in one piece, or the individual tools are taught in the course of a course and at the end, so to speak as a kind of test "What can I do now?" the project game is carried out.

Extension of the game with an additional variant:

Participants could also be assigned roles within the project:

Project ManagerSecretary
Project manager deputy Graphic designer
Project staffAdditional project staff
